Traditional Greek souvlaki is in the minds of everyone that participates in a tour of Greece, especially those that take a tour in Athens. Sadly in the touristic areas of Athens city center it is hard to find the real thing. The way to find it is by taking a walking tour of Athens and look at where the locals go for the Greek version of fastfood. On the number 5 of Pentelis str., a small side street off Syntagma Square, you will find “Kostas”. Since 1950 he serves one thing and one thing only classic Greek souvlaki. People stand in line and if you have no time to wait you should better call in advance for your order. The original Kostas is long gone but his grandson carries proudly both the name and the tradition. It is one of the places to visit in Athens.
